Slowcooker blueberry butter is easy to make and so delicious. Best of all, if you make a big batch, you can give it to your family and friends as a Christmas gift.

Since the ingredients are relatively expensive, you won’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on an extravagant Christmas gift. Plus, they will think of you when they are eating the blueberry butter.

What Is Blueberry Butter

The name blueberry butter is misleading. Blueberry butter does not contain butter. Confusing, I know.

Blueberry butter is a fruit spread consisting of blueberries, sugar, and spices.

However, since this is sugar-free blueberry butter, it does not contain traditional sugar. It’s made with Swerve granular sugar-free sweetener. However, you can use any sugar-free sweetener you have on hand.

The blueberry butter is cooked in a slow cooker. So it takes about 5-6 hours to cook, and then it is blended into a paste.

The term fruit butter refers to the texture of the blueberry butter. It has a similar texture to butter.

What’s The Difference Between Blueberry Butter And Blueberry Jam

Both blueberry jam and blueberry butter contain blueberries, sugar, and in some cases, spices. However, blueberry butter is cooked longer and blended into a paste.

Additionally, blueberry jam contains gelling agents like pectin. Pectin is used to thicken blueberry jam and give it a gelatinous consistency.

Is Blueberry Butter Healthy

Yes, blueberry butter is healthy. Blueberries can decrease your risk of cardiovascular disease, as well as type 2 diabetes.

They can also protect your nerve cells from damage as well as degeneration and aid weight management. Blueberries also contain bioactive ingredients which possess antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-obesity potential.

Furthermore, this blueberry butter is low in calories. Each tablespoon has 17 calories, including 7.3 grams of carbs.

How Do You Thicken Blueberry Butter

The blueberry butter should have a thick consistency after blending it. However, if it does not, place it back into the slow cooker after you blend it.

Cook the blueberry butter on high, uncovered for 1 hour, periodically stirring until it thickens. The blueberry butter will thicken more as it cools down.
